5 Simple Tips for Picking Great Paint Colors

For painting a house, one should rely completely on personal choices and needs rather than giving up blindly on what’s in fashion. So, a few tips should always be kept in mind while looking up for colors to paint one’s house with, after all, colors and moods are strongly relatable.

Gone are the days when people would just sit with the color palettes in their hands and pick up few shades to paint their house with. With the latest abuzz called “color psychology”, most of us have finally become aware with the fact that choosing right colors for the right rooms affect our moods, rejuvenate and sooth us in one way or the other.

In this article, we have provided 5 simple tips as given painting contractors in Lakeview, which you can implement to pick the right colors for your abode—

1) For Bedrooms, Pick Up a Color Suited to your Mood
If you’re a jolly, bohemian and loud person by nature, you can really play with the colors of your bedroom—bold colors or make abstract pattern on a single wall could just be it. If you think that colors must sooth and relax you after a hectic day, painting contractors in Old Town suggest you choose softer pastel shades of blue and green preferably.

2) For Kids’ Room, Play With Designs, but Don’t Use Loud Colors
Kids love colors and different geometric patterns. You can ask your painting team to help you select some great designs for the same. However, while selecting the colors, use pastel colors in myriad shades.

3) Lighting is Important
If the room gets adequate natural lighting, refrain from using too dark colors on the walls, while, for incandescent lighting, bright colors would suit a great deal as this form of lighting warmifiers the color making it appear just great. For fluorescent lighting, you can paint your walls in bluish tones as this form of lighting etches out a sharp blue tone off the color.

4) Experiment with Colors on the Ceiling
A ceiling changes the outlook of the whole room. While many prefer to keep it white, you can experiment with the same with tinted shades. And, if you’re up for some drama, paint it bold!

5) Consider the Flow
The colors of all rooms on the same floor must be coordinated, if not kept the same. It can be really disturbing to move in from one room with muted colors to another room with stark bright colors and abstract textured walls.

How to Install Wooden Flooring over Concrete?

Hard wood floors are a one-time investment, and designed to make your home look clean and classy at all times.
Hard wood floors need very little maintenance and are very easy to clean. Masonry contractors in Chicago strongly advise that installation of hard wood floors should be done systematically in order to get the best results.

Read on to know more about the procedure off installation of hard wood floors –
1. Removal Of Old Flooring
New flooring can only be installed when the old is removed completely.  If the floor has carpet should been pulled up completely. All traces of foam, tack strips and nails should be removed from the site.
2. Removal of the Baseboards
Most flooring experts will suggest re-use of the base boards in order to save the cost of buying new ones. By giving them a fresh coat of paint or polish, they are as good as new. The removal of the top of the board from the wall should be done with the help of a utility knife.
3. Floor Preparation
If the concrete below is painted, it needs to be removed in order for the adhesive to stick properly. A grinder can be used for the removal of paint. Once the concrete is paint free it needs to be vacuum cleaner.
4. Application of the Moisture Barrier
The moisture barrier is applied with the help of a V-notch trowel at an angle of 45 degrees. Let it rest for at least 24 hours and avoid walking into the room for that period. Remember to open the windows as it has a very strong odour.
5. Execute the Layout Of the Floor
Place the flooring by starting parallel to the longest wall in the room. Always start in a corner so that you can leave out once done. The pieces can be cut there and then.
6. Apply the Adhesive to the Floor
The next step is to start applying the adhesive to the floor in small manageable sections, using V-Notch trowel. Execute small sections at one time. Keep taping the seams together using a painters tape. Keep a damp cloth handy to keep wiping the adhesive of the surfaces.
7. Finish by installing the base boards
After a day remove the tape and install the base boards to keep the flooring in place.
