The difference between a mediocre and fantastic paint job is the equipment that is used to execute it.

In the market today there is a wide choice in brushes and rollers for various painting techniques. 

Different paint brushes have different uses and can be used with all kinds of paints. Read on to know more about the criterion for buying the right paint brush and roller –   

1. Uses of Paint Brushes

Different sizes of brushes are used for specific paint jobs –

•  Brushes with a width of 12mm to 25mm are bets used for touch up on chairs, trimmings and toys.
•  Brushes with a width of 38mm are used for small panels, furniture, moldings and down pipes. 
• Brushed with a width of 50mm are often used for doors, screens, cabinets and railings
• Brushes with a width of 63mm are mostly used for cup boards, doors, eaves and gutters.
• Brushes with a width of 75mm are advisable for rails, floor boards and skirting’s. 
• Brushes more than 100mm in width are used for flat areas, walls, ceilings and fences.

2. Selection of The Roller For The Paint Job

Roller sleeves are available in long, medium and short lengths.

• A short nap will be 5 to 8mm in depth and will not be able to hold much paint. It is mostly used for glossy paint, when done to leave a thin coating. 
•  The medium nap is generally sued for all purposes and is 8 to 12mm in depth. It works well with all kinds of paint and can be used for a stippled effect too.
